Ferris State University’s student Jarrad Barrick was the recipient of one of the 2010 EDSF Board of Directors Scholarships. EDSF, the worldwide electronic document scholarship foundation, awards these annually for students pursuing careers in the document management and graphic communications fields.
The recipients are selected based on academic achievement, honors received, participation in extracurricular activities and community service. Competition for the awards is significant with hundreds of applications received worldwide each year. Jarrad set himself apart from the other applicants with his essay on the role of JDF technology.
In addition to receiving the scholarship, Jarrad has been asked to attend Graph Expo 2010, and speak at an EDSF fundraising event. The Scholarship Night will take place Tuesday, October 5, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, after the GRAPH EXPO exhibit hall closes for the day. GRAPH EXPO 2010 is the year’s largest graphic communications exhibition and conference in the Americas.
Themed “Give Back at GRAPH,” the event is aimed at increasing awareness
of the need for industry scholarships, and to encourage greater industry participation in raising funds for EDSF’s scholarship program. The program will include a sit-down dinner, entertainment, and live and silent auctions. However, the highlight of the evening will be Jarrad and three other students who will share their testimonials with the audience.
In addition to attending “Give Back at Graph” Jarrad will be able to see all the latest technology, network with industry leaders and most important of all, find that 2011 summer internship he is searching for.
